Instruments
My instrumental studies have been predominantly classical. However, I am willing to work with students and what they wish to get from learning an instrument.
Violin
Violin
I teach from beginner to intermediate
The Violin - with the highest sounding pitch out of it's string family - has a beautiful singing tone. Often called a fiddle, it can make music that makes you want to dance, or can play a more heartfelt melody that pulls at your heart strings.
Listen to:
- Meditation by Thais
- Partita no. 3 in E major by Bach
Viola
Viola
The Viola has a rich, warm tone. In an orchestra, the Viola often plays the beautiful harmonies and blends the high sounds of the violins with the low sounds of the celli and double bass.
Listen to:
- Cello Suite no. 2 in D minor, Prelude (for viola)
Cello
Cello
I teach from beginner to AMEB grade 4.
The violoncello will pull at your heartstrings!
Listen to:
- Cello Suite no. 1, Prelude by Bach
- The Swan, by Saint Saens
Double Bass
Double Bass | Contra Bass
I teach from beginner to AMEB grade 3
Double bass is very large! Unlike the rest of it's string family, it is tuned in fourths and sounds an octave lower than it's written. While it is challenging because of it's size, I find it is one of the most enjoyable instruments to play.
Listen to:
- The Elephant by Saint-Saens.
- Elegy by Bottessini
